if all americans could go back to farming and living in a rudimentary rural community, you could do away with intl trade. You could also junk all cars and start bicycling like before Henry Ford hooked you onto oil -and stop importing oil. The oil in ANWR would suffice to provide you with heating oil in winters buttuming firewood collected daily won't suffice.

It *needs* to do what it is doing to sustain the american lifestle aka the american dream. If you opt for a simpler lifestyle like the amish reportedly do, you can forget about trade.

You won;t see an end to lending of wealth -till either your currency tanks or you are forced by some means to accept a lower std of living. As I said, money be it any currency is a means for the transfer of wealth -not wealth in itself. Oil producing countries could trade in euros or gold or pork or salmon or anything they like. What is important is that they have wealth aka trade-able goods-services to offer in return for something that they need. The currency note produced by the US mint is an intermediary to facilitate trade and not indispensible in any way. At one pt, when Saddam Hussein knew the US invasion was coming, he offered to flee the country in return for $3B worth of gold. The current price of gold in dollars was relevant, the fact that gold has had a stable residual value throughout human history was relevant -but how many dollar bills the US mint prints is of no consequence.

Company owners benefit by hiring slave labour -even if they are not v rich. Some company owners take a loan from a bank to start a business, so they aren't very rich -but the fact that their bank loan can get more work done for less, means they benefit by hiring slave labour and screening out americans. For every 10 slaves companies hire, they usually hire some americans at high posts, like mktg execs, senior mgrs etc..Computer s-w being a highly geography independent industry -american companies will have to compete with foreign companies that hire exclusively cheap labour overseas. Instead of reducing wages for everybody in line with foreign manpower, they bring in slaves that do a disproportionate amount of work for lesser salaries while still retaining a skeletal staff of american citizens.

Generally, as you go lower down the value chain -you tend to benefit less from slavery. As a consumer you do, but as a worker you probably don't -unless you derive credit for the productivity of H1Bs as managers do.

stuff made in the US by financing the living standards of americans is going to be prohibitively expensive i.e. your purchasing power will shrink. So. the answer is that to provide more jobs for americans while buying stuff -all americans would have to opt for a std of living in line with their productivity.

The US owes much of its prosperity to theft of mid-east oil, as you pointed out -in addition to an inflated currency and to slavery. As I said, wealth is trade-able goods AND services. When you bring in slaves, you dervive a lot more trade-able services than the citizenry can generate.

yeah -the consumption and the green house emissions are leading to an unsustainable situation. But to let you know, 300 million normal humans whom we call americans consume more oil than the rest of the world put together and produce more greenhouse gases than the rest of the world put together. The problem lies not with the entire human civilization -but mostly with countries that splurge like hell aka the US.

so when you complain of not being paid enough and categgggggggggoriizing the CEO as the devil -your complaint is unwarranted. Its the CEO's job to get work done for the least possible salary.
