How did you like YOUR boss....was: Just chickeny is crooky...was: American Middle Clbutt

I only had one boss that was good: He left me alone. I gave him what he wanted (he never complained about my work). He kept giving me new projects after I finished the prior project. And, I got raises.

I've had lots of bosses that were poor to terrible. I had a conversation with an old friend who worked at a well known national laboratory in a support capacity (mechanical engineering) and was even a manager for a short while then stepped down from it (griping that all the managers above him were even worse). He told me there were days when he hated his job and the only reason he was doing it was the money. The rest of the time he liked his job but the part he did not like was discussing with a manager the technical--as opposed to the poltically correct--reasons why a particular approach to a project would not work. And, having the manager tell him that the politically correct thing to do was to do the politically correct thing ("now get to work and make it happen" which resulted in bad endings; eg. the thing didn't work).

That's his story. My story is much longer.
