India and China favourite destination for IT mfg

New Delhi, Mar 22: The worldwide growth in technology would see India and China leaving behind US and Europe to emerge as the leading technology manufacturing centres, according to a survey.

"While China is expected to record the highest growth in IT manufacturing jobs over the next three years, India will be close second," according to annual IT confidence survey by Eurocom Worldwide.

Of the firms surveyed by Eurocom and its Indian partner IPAN, 76 per cent believed that India and China will take a lead in the IT manufacturing space. Seventeen per cent of the 300 top managers surveyed said India will record the highest growth in the jobs front while 71 per cent were of the opinion that China will take a lead.

Eurocom - which is a collaboration between independent, privately - owned communication agencies across the world - said the outlook for jobs in the European technology sector looks very positive.

"As many as 60 per cent of the surveyed firms expect to increase jobs over the next 12 months while only eight per cent are expecting a decrease in headcount," it said.

Firms are very bullish on sales too with 79 per cent expecting to increase revenue and only three per cent expecting downturn.

"The IT recovery is reflected in the fact that skills shortage is now seen as thirs most likely threat to growth in the sector," Vivek Sengupta, President of IPAN said.
