Yes, I remember. And no, it is not very helpful. Sounds like you got hold of a bad dictionary, or lacked the skill to use it. Doing the same thing on dictionary.com gives you three different dictionaries' results. In each of those, the definition for "Hindu" refers back to Hinduism, but the definition of "Hinduism" is much more descriptive than what you were able to find in your dictionary.

I'm not sure how quoting that other material changes the fact that what you said was that everyday usage but not the dictionary would allow for "professional bank robber". Pretty clearly, the dictionary would allow for that, as I showed.

No, a dictionary just describes word usage; it only attempts to identify, not to fully explain the thing-concept-action, etc. that word is used for.
