Organized religion is a tool-catalyst that people use to increase-preserve their power base.. The spanish conquistadors used the sword in the name of Christ (pity him) to create a power base -whereas the CIA prefers to use service centres instead. The modus operandi has changed -but the motive is still the same. From what I have read, the CIA wants to convert a significant portion of our country's poor to christianity and then bring about an insurrection -so that they can install a puppet regime. Talk about spreading democracy.
Its not much to do with religion -but more to do with politics. Evangelism as preached by W is more to do with getting votes from people who like that yarn -and less to do with the road to salvation.

Depends on how you look at it. Religious leaders are public figures. Their success in life and the kind of money they can get hold of from places of worship depend on how much mindshare they attract -like a politician. To say that a person is not free to practice his religion is abuse of religion. Whne you talk of preventing religious leaders from improving their popularity or achieving a political objective in the name of religion -thats a different story.
ancient religions did not have to compete for mindshare. At the time when christianity and Islam came into being -every human already belonged to some religion. So, to maintian their relevance -these religions had pull people away from a given religion into their fold.
yeah -that is how things work. If the CIA doesn't do its job -then its personnel will succumb to down-sizing as taxpayers do want to curtail expenditure. They can maintain their relevance and get work on the table only by stimulating revolutions-insurrections. Its not about freedom from tyranny or democracy or fighting terror or organized religion. Its just about the quest for wealth and power.

democracy is not of interest to your politicians. They prefer dictators to democracy -as they make better puppets and one can abuse the populace of a country a lot more easily if the puppet is answerable to none but the CIA.
think its part of a life-cycle. Countries come out of poverty, thrive then decay and then collapse and start all over again.
