India not ready for space travel and missles... 1846Michal Gancarski yeah -they do. The govt spends heavily on S&T, but v little on infrastructure. If it were not for grinding poverty -we would have had a lot more educated and send personnel than many developed countries put together. it doesn't have to be -and many countries that have progressed have grinding poverty or AIDS or some such poverty. Russia is one major example of that. yeah It is a long term national program to earn money by launching satellites at 35% less than global prices. They don't even have to decide whether to spend money on space or pvoerty. They are just investing in developing launch facilities-technologies to reap the fruits of that investment down the road. Consumer spending in India is high like western countries and the govt is trying to keep the deficit low by orienting S&T programmers to be self-sustaining. I don't see this as a bad idea really.
