it is actually highly beneficial to increase productivity, amount of trade-able services produced by a country.

All evidence points to the fact that slavery is highly rewarding to the enslaver, and to a lesser extent to the society which encourages such practices -but the benefits may not be well-distributed to all segments of society (and that must have been your counter-point). Even the H1b quota increases were labelled "american 21st century compebreastiveness act" because bringing in cheap labour and making them slog increases productivity of the entire company and it offsets higher pay+ lower productivity of citizens in the work place. So, it does benefit even the antagonzied working clbutt when you consider that the cost of shifting the entire office overseas or competing with an overseas company is not possible by employing people to sustain an american std of living.

Slavery was abolished in the USA some time back, but it is possible to bring in people on restricted rights -and is already being done as of now. About 10% of the US population lives on restricted rights. On paper, it is not slavery -but in economic terms, it yields the same economic benefits that slavery did.

think all americans s-w engineers should opt for minimum wage. That will make them compebreastive in the global market place.

if they charge too much, it is temporary. Every CEO-manager has a counterpart in an offshore location who provides the same amt of mgmt and foresight for a lot less. Any CEO who cannot keep costs low and the costs include not only workers' salary but also his own salary is running the risk of losing his job.

yeah -even today american manpowr in just about any sector is prohibitively expensive. Someone will gave to educate them that first world living and consumption is not a right obtained by way of citizenship -but something that needs to be earned by way of higher productivity.
