Back when the railroads were built, the US economy imported tons of chinese labour. After the railroads were built, there was no need for that labour. Contractors on the US side of the fence shot their chinese labour and so did not have to pay them their last salary nor did society have to take care of them. On the Canadian side, they put a penalty against bringing in family or some such thing. I believe even the Japanese were liquidated during WW II. You should see the film "snow falling on cedar" or some such thing. They used to have graffiti "Japs go back home" so that locals could get good pickings of their immovable property. Generally, the US has been a land of oppurtunities -welcoming foreign talent when it expands and expelling them when it contracts. If they cannot be expelled -they probably get eleminated like chinese labour. In the case of H1Bs, around 2002 -I got to know from hiring managers that they would get into trouble if they hired me, coz the economy was shrinking and americans wanted to do away with the compebreastion. That is another case of liquidation. I know of another guy who left the US during early 1990 or so -because of the recession. He was talented. but had to make way for americans to get hold of his job. Last I checked, he had a lexus car not when he left but in 2000+ -so his salary and immovable property must have been pretty impressive when he left-disposed of it.

You may want to skip books and see reality first hand. The current debate isn't about upper caste hindus beating up dalits -but about dalits asking for a free ride (read affirmative action) for 3000 yrs of exploitation. If it was about not beating them up or giving them equal rights -there wouldn't be a controversy at all.

Its not fascist as there is no ideology. Anybody who gets picked up by the police is subject to heavy-handed tactics. Things like "anything you say will and can be used against you in a court of law" are amusing to cops here. They extract information by using 3rd degree torture -not necessarily because they are lesser humans, but because the environment is like that i.e. teeming with militias and lots of violence-plants-firing-tear gas etc.. during elections.. Some time back, an indian airlines flight was hijacked to Kandahar to free up prisoners, and the reason was that one of the free'd up prisoners was a kashmiri person who didn't expect to survive his next round of interrogation. Its barbaric but there is religious or political (fascist) ideology behind it.

Your govt doesn't want the money. It wants foreigners to work (provide trade-able goods-eervices) for greenbacks of dubious value.

it wouldn't. I told you its the unemployed lot who will go after whosoever they can. Its not relevant to rioters whether they loot a small shop or glitzy shop. The thing that matters is what they can get hold of.

On Wed, 5 Jul 2006, Kamal R. Prasad I have not heard this story, but by your own words, it was contractors who did this (i.e. your "private equity") and it...

it didn't go after their wealth. It went after acts which would undermine investor confidence.

No -its for real. There are lots of knowledgable americans that are talking of an economic collapse. That will provide the kind of srimulus required to bring about liquidation.

i tend to think outside the box -yes.

Is Kamal really "TwistyCreek" ...India to supply nurses to USA
Kamal is constantly promoting India (see all quoted material at end) as if the USA is total history...

that is speculation. The economy is doing just fine.

On Sat, 14 Jul 2006, indiaBPOking To be "forward looking" without looking at past history is to start at a zero point and depend on pure imagination...

its not relevant. What matters is the fundamentals of your economy. First world is not a label from the divine which says everything will be bright and rosy for you.

Yeah -when americans are unemployed without proper sources of income, they will be inclined to indulge in cannibalism. So, if someone wants to invite people to work in the US -I would advise them to read this and change course and open offices overseas where manpower is located rather than bring them on-board.
