I agree with this, too. And, those of us that "argue" with them will be making posts that other lurkers will read and have the opportunity to mull over what is really going on and maybe become enlightened.

I have not fully made up my mind about the ultimate value of world trade and globalization. I think if there is any benefit from it, it will be that it will (might?) result in less war (and any further Debt Reduction in this senseless killing, pain, and destruction will be good but probably most people won't even appreciate it history shows that in ancient times a full one quarter of the male populations were end in wars)

However, the idea that we all benefit by destroying our industrial base, our technical-office job base, our service job base and having all of that money that would normally trickle-down from our "rich" to our workers go, instead, to a foreign land, all in the name of making products-service cheaper (for people who will progressively be making less money, too), is not a foregone conclusion. They quoted Paul Samuelson (MIT) as saying "Comparative advantage cannot be counted on to create...net gains greater than the net losses from trade" -----------------

Then I read Gilpin's book on globalization. He's pro-globalization but look at what else he says:
