Regarding India vs. China: That's how I feel, too. Thing is, in corporate IT there are a LOT of Indians. I am seeing fewer and fewer projects with an Indian connection these days, so it appears to be dying down a bit. I'm an independent consultant primarly brought in to troubleshoot NEW development, or re-development, so its not really a question of offshoring vs. backshoring. I've been in several situations where I had to completely rewrite an offshored application but I'm not sure if I'd qualify that as backshoring or backsourcing, since the project was considered "complete" and the offshore ripoff... er, I mean bodysho... er, I mean consulting firm had kept the contract. I'm kinda like the Harvey Keitel character in "Pulp Fiction"... the cleanup guy!

Well, the situation is more complicated that it seems. Bush regime did everything in his powers to make the globalization if not unstopable at least extremely painfull...

Old Pif yeah -the US led the whole world towards globalization -and the US govt is one of...

Also, consider that I don't debate on these forums to save my life. You have a point that arguing with these guys serves no real purpose. However, it does serve sort of ta purpose... I get to blow off some steam! I consider myself quite different from most of the anti-offshoring-H1B posters on this board in that MY problem with offshoring is NOT that they are taking my job, it's that they are making my job hell! Having to constantly work with lousy code, having to explain managment that the project is FUBAR and has to be done over, having to babysit an offshoring team for months and then have them all quit, etc... this poo really holds me back. I can honestly say that conservatively half of my 16 year career has been wasted dealing with the stupidity, inexperience and hubris of others. That's eight f***ing man years! The stress is unbearable. Yeah, I'd love to abuse the hell out of these guys, but decorum and office politics prevent me from doing that, so I torment and humiliate BPO, "DR" Jai, and RK instead. Again, though, you are right: There is no real "win" in this as the code will be just as f***ed up, regardless.

On Mon, 20 Mar 2006, Gill Bentry Well, that's interesting, but we still get a ton of the pro-Indian hype posts...

Oh yeah, I took that stress quiz:

Your final score: 33 out of 40 ANALYSIS: 31 to 40: Potentially dangerous stress: Seek professional buttistance or consider a job change.
