I'd love to hear a clarification of that! Who are you calling Native Americans? What *was* the democratic spirit of the Native Americans? What did it look like?

I think the book "The Cornplanter Chronicles" summarizes the system of government of the Iroquois as no representative really had any power beyond being a voice for his people. Each major decision was discussed at an individual level and the family group representative went to the subtribe or tribe with their decision. Of course, this leaves the vast majority of decisions to feedback from the common person rather than a closed-doors session of Congress.

I suspect the pent up steam of the American citizens shines through all efforts to bankrupt America. The practice of cooperation and striving for excellence rather than conniving or slavery mean the American way is the intrinsic value of America. Bankrupting the currency is a cheap trick by the politicians and the greedy bankers but will not destroy America. We have lost currencies before and doing so again will only suffice the destroy wealth of the wealthy. When you're poor, hyper-inflation doesn't take away much; yet hopefully the little it takes is not what you need to survive.

As engineers we should mourn the lie of Globalization that it has brought wealth. This is simply false. Yes, America has fallen towards the 3rd world over the last 35 years (proven elsewhere in this ng) but continued innovation and improvement has heralded a higher standard of living than would otherwise exist.

Most of all, look for mbuttive immigration in the USA. We will be the most populous country in 100 years I suspect.
