North America on the verge of economic collapse 4394Whose Asian Century By Jim Hoagland Thursday, June 9, 2005; Page A21 China prepares to head a great manufacturing empire. But empires... India arrives: Exotic is the mantra this season BY KATHRYN WEXLER Made In India. Time was, those three little words on an apparel tag could bring a dress... Nope. Not worried about it. Your point is a good one. At some time people will stop immigrating because their home country will stabilize. One would hope for their sake. OTOH, America is a melting pot and we like it that way. Good people are always welcome. As long as world accepts fiat currency then whoever prints the fiat employs the people. All net USA employment growth over the last several years has been in government. That'll keep happening for the foreseeable future. And support mbuttive immigration. It is a heavy tax on responsible workers in America but also a heavy tax on workers in India and anywhere else the fiat is accepted. India would do well to observe that folks in the cheaper states in the USA now earn less than folks in the richer areas of India! I hear second hand some folks in India even earn $60,000 USD per year! That's 25% more than the average husband and wife combined in the cheaper states in the USA. Not to mention Bolivia etc. where workers can be had for $3-day. Intel's announcement to build a $400M chip factory in India shows they poorly understand globalization. They are ten years behind on their strategy. India now has to compete with 1st world work forces and that'll be a lot tougher than takig jobs from Americans simply because they are cheaper. (read between the but no more so than Canada for instance. Only the tax evasion of Bermuda is now keeping the outflow to India preferential for the MNC. As an Amercian engineer, its ingratiating to see Intel investing in India rather than Bolivia or Nigeria. With the MNC's still building in India, I realize the job loss will slowdown fast over the next two years. It's at best 1-2 as efficient to employ remote workers and closer to 1-4 in my experience doing so including remote workers in the USA, India, and other countries. TimJowers
