And now India seems determined to kill off the NPT completely. It would seem that signing the NPT was a mug's game for Japan, Iran, South Korea, Brazil etc. as India has been richly rewarded for its defiance. The old framework, imperfect as it was, will be replaced either by multilateral arms race chaos or by an arbitrary set of diktats issued by the Pentagon.
I would not welcome Indian "stabilisation" of my state, however failed.

Compared with China, the lesser of two evils certainly, but not a model global citizen by any means. A country that cherishes a disgraceful caste system should look to reform itself first.
America should not let itself get too allied with India as that could push Pakistan closer to China and the West may face a Chinese-Islamic alliance that controls most of the world's exportable oil. Lastly, the way the last fight went between India and China should make us careful about whom we back here.
