(KSDK-SLBJ) -- The St. Louis Business Journal reported that technology and information firm Reuters Inc. is sending 20 of its roughly 75 back-office financial positions from its Creve Coeur campus to the company's center in Bangalore, India.

The moves here are part of larger personnel shift of Reuters resources around the world designed to place people where Reuters customers would receive the most benefit, said Jim Fox, Reuter's senior vice president for finance, Americas.

Reuters executives said Reuters has consolidated more jobs in St. Louis than it has shifted to other markets since the company established its presence here four years ago after buying Bridge Information Systems out of bankruptcy.

Most of Reuters' St. Louis jobs are in software development, sales or customer service. The company shifted many of those positions to St. Louis from Reuter's operations in Chicago, Toronto and New York, said Phil Lynch, Reuters chief executive for the Americas.

London-based Reuters' current personnel moves are designed to capitalize on its investment in Bangalore, Fox said.

Reuters is known for its news agency, but more than 90 percent of its revenue comes from providing financial and market information to companies around the world.
