Science: a dead end career 23On Sun, 22 May 2005 23:50:06 +0100, Dirk Bruere at Neopax Well said. I recall Senator John Button (?) saying something along the lines of Australia needing more people who can *make* money and less of those who only know how to *count* it. I think that sums it up quite succinctly. Unfortunately Western society rewards the parasitic professions grossly disproportionately to their real worth. To buttess the real value of any profession, ask yourself, if the Earth were about to be annihilated by an asteroid, who would you choose to populate a new world? It's clear that scientists, engineers, and maybe a doctor would form the nexus of the new humanity. Lawyers, politicians, stockbrokers, accountants, real estate agents, marketing execs, sportspeople would all be left behind. The one concession I would make would be a supermodel ... for recreational purposes. OK, whowhat are the Asatru...was: Science: a dead end career 24 SD hanson Reconquista or not, the fact remains that modern humanity is in an extreme state of high flux... a global phenomenon.... brought upon... Something is really wrong with a country that rewards a lipstick queen with a "Young Australian of the Year" award. And something is seriously askew when a person's prowess with stick and ball can ambutt him an income that buys him his own private jet. Then there's the stock market where a nation's economy can be ruined overnight by the programmed panic selling of intrinsically worthless paper. People like Rene Rivkin who never made a single widget in his life, and Donald Trump who never did anything more than move real estate, these are the undeserving people who receive our accolades. These parasites never *created* any wealth, they merely *transferred* it. Here's a real quiet achiever, Maurice Hilleman, "the medical scientist who saved more lives in the 20th century than anyone else." These are the people that should be at the top of the heap, not royal sluts, or catwalk prosbreastutes.
