Science: a dead end career 28

Dirk Nations with an increasing industrial base need scientists and engineers. Nations with a declining industrial base need lawyers and social workers. I think history will judge the relinquishing of our industrial base to be the point at which the West 'fell'. It may seem like a long time to us - decades - but on an historical scale it is incredibly rapid. hanson That is akin to the old, red catechism of Lenin. It's no longer valid. Today's connections from money to marriage are so *global* that it has formed a new paradigm which everyone is still struggling with. Big time. But, I am very optimistic. Cooperation will be the number one necessity, by necessity, and this will be pushing hard conformations under the rubric of "least desirable options"..... simply because EVERYBODY will loose by that... and this latter phenomenon has not quite sunk in yet. What you express here is nothing more than a hidden form of the dawning realization onset of your very own & real mortality. But, Dirk, safety in numbers won't help you. The past glory wont help you. In the final analysis our individual existence boils down to that "we are born alone, we walk alone and we die alone". It is a very good deal, man. Be proud of it and celebrate it.... ahahahaha...

Dirk hanson There will be perhaps at most, only a few more "Chinese decades", then (a) their own internal problems, just like the West has gone thru in the last century, will hit them too. (b) if the West, their largest consumer item buying block, starts to decline then what good are all those Chinese produced goods for which they can't sell any longer?...... ahahaha... ahaha... ahahanson
