I guess we each choose our views and what we think gives credence to them. While that view might be fine for you, I'd find it absolutely depressing. I'm no extrovert, but I still think of humans as social animals. I prefer to find credence in my view from a recent experience where I was picked over a much better know firm for a to me large project, based on my experience and the strength of recommendations from my references. Maybe. But there is nothing to be gained from worrying about that. You handled it in the best possible way in this case, to good effect. Sure. That's pretty easy to see from their point of view. Surely if you were hiring someone, you wouldn't want someone who couldn't stick it out on any job. So knowing where they are coming from, your task is to explain the job shifts in a way that they will see reasons that dispel the impression that you can't cut it long-term, while at the same time not sounding defensive.
