from where you pulled this out? Indian IT folks are paid obscene. We are talking about such an enormous sum by indian standards some of them feel ashamed to ask for salary. A friend of mine moved back to India and is getting 20 laks (that is 2 million rupees) per annum and he doesn't live in a big crowded city also.
Raises are in the range of 10-15% yearly. Companies keep throwing out goodies for the fear that employees may leave them.
