rkusenet That comes from a pro-BPO site. Besides if it was so f***ing great why aren't we all heading over there in droves. In fact why are you working in North America...

recruiters are scum

neither is the norm that they are paid chicken.poo. In Indian rupees they are paid very high, when compared to other profession.

that article talks about BPO - call centers. These are the folks who answer 800-DELL-SUPP kinda calls. I never claimed that they are paid high. I am talking about IT shops. I mean companies like Oracle, Microsoft, IBM who have thousands in India working for them. In other words, thousands in US who lose their job bcos of these buttholes :-)

What crap r u talking? Of course they do. There was a program in PBS "is Wal-Mart good for America". there it was shown that how bcos of made-in-china policy of Wal-Mart, consumers are able to pay ridiculously low price. How do u think Wal-Mart is able to sell 50 CDS for eight dollars. or a DVD player for $29.95. U shud be nuts to think that they would have sold at the same price if manufactured in USA.

Also in that program they interviewed some American companies who admitted that there is no way they can compete with Chinese companies because of huge difference in cost structure.

I disagree vehemently that IT companies are moving to India bcos of low cost. Here are some sample:

yeah, but BPO is not == IT development jobs. I always have the option of going back and I will. Till then lemme enjoy...

(1) IBM is opening a research centre in India in computational bioscience. (2) HPs second biggest research lab is in India. (3) Oracle and Microsoft have huge labs in India, involving in their core technologies. (4) Intel CEO says that there is no need for him to hire Americans any more as he finds amazing talent outside America.

Only a fool will think that all of this is bcos of low cost. All of these companies perceives Indians at least as good as Americans, if not better. and btw they are lot cheaper also bcos 1USD = 43IRS.

rkusenet Here are old stats, when you do the conversion it is still pretty low paying 12 lacs for a high end job. But that might be a good salary there, it is...

Why didn't American companies invest in R&D in China for manufacturing. China is manufacturing since 1980s. How many R&D companies were started there by USA utilizing their native talent. The answer is that uncle does not have confidence in their research talent.

Actually India is shining now in medical sector also, but let us not talk about it as we are not affected by it.
