Here are old stats, when you do the conversion it is still pretty low paying 12 lacs for a high end job. But that might be a good salary there, it is below the poverty line here.

Walmart strong arms suppliers into lowering their costs to ridiculous levels. They are fanatical about cutting the costs almost to the point of insanity. Most of the products you buy at Walmart like furniture, and certain electronics sold ridiculously low are inferior products. You won't pick up a Harmon Karden or Sony receiver for $30. They are going for the lowest common denominator. Force the supplier to build the cheapest crap they can get for the lowest price. When it falls apart a month past the warranty period the consumer goes back to buy a replacement. That is what keeps the North American economy going, we are constantly buying.
Software and services have a high markup. The sales team tries to size you up to see what you can afford. If IBM decides to create a new product and they plan on charging $200Kyear in license charges they can get it built in North Carolina or India. I am sure there are bright people in both places that can get it done, the difference is they will save poopiles of development money if they can get it built in India but the cost is still $200Kyear. The savings are not pbutted on to the consumer.
China is a cheap place to mbutt manufacture products and the work ethic is better than Mexico. Living under a communist regime is the ideal environment for a corporation. We will have to agree to disagree then. Just remember the corporation is evil and only wants to save money. Rent the DVD "The Corporation" and you will see what I mean.
