The USA Still Number One 1955
Straydog I don't deny that they are better educated than me -but If american labour is indeed compebreastively priced as indicated by the study, why do employers look for subsbreastutes elsewhere? Why do they bribe politicians to get replacements for greedy pigs from overseas? They can save themselves having to pay a bribe -if local talent was the best one can find on Earth. The USA Still Number One 1958 Straydog Many americans have that mentality -yes. Its hard to explain. Nazi mentality is like a shortcut to success. You... does someone become anti-american by saying that american labour is not compebreastively priced? There are lots of americans who wouldn't refer to my post as anti-american, but you can say I do not aspire for the american dream or wish to contribute to the well-being of neo-nazis. A better thing would be to work for the well-being of poor people in India by contributing to the tax base. No -regardless who benefits or loses, it is driven more by the Consumer Debt than by CEOs or overseas workers. The Consumer Debt opts for the lowerst priced goods (regardless of where they are made) and companies-CEOs respond to that by shunting work to where their succesful compebreastion has gone for cost-effective labour. Its not worth going into simply because it is quoting Paul samuelson. To contradict Ricardo, Samuelson will have to do more than just express his opinion. He will have to re-write econ books -much like someone saying g!= 9.8 m-s^2 or that gravity doesn't apply to the master race. snip anybody can write a book -some based on fiction, some on facts and some on hard to prove hypotheses. Tell me when it is accepted by the academia as a subsbreastute for Ricardo's theory. And btw -your text below doesn't contradict Ricardo. yeah -why do you think I disagree with the above? because you read it and endorsed it? or because there was corruption which everyone wishes didn't exist -but unfortunately it does. The USA Still Number One 1956 On Thu, 29 Jun 2006, Kamal R. Prasad Your big mistake is in thinking that EVERYTHING in the USA needs only an immigrant or an offshore location and that absolutely NOTHING done HERE is profitable... Its true for weather forecasting and various other types of forecasting. The proof is in the pudding -which is why comparative advantage is accepted universally. No industry has managed to defy this law and still survive. regards -kamal
