Who is actually taught to reason? Not very many are. It's not that hard, either.

That's cute, but we're not dogs. Besides, alpha over which domain? If you are familiar with the Zap Branigan character in "Futurama" (a parody of the clbuttic sang-froid, clueless alpha male ), it's pretty clear that there are limits to that scheme.

We've always had them. By virtue of simple quanbreasty and regression to the mean, income mobility based on cognitive ability tends to thrust the children of the poor who measure well under the existing meriotocracy into alpha status.

That's clearly obsolete. But the apparent advantages of monogamy lead to its continued popularity. But we're well out of biological thinking and into a normative, cultural space.

War is far too effective a metaphor for it to die off completely. There's still struggle out there. I see more of an "alpha geek" thing happening. Richard Feynman is their lizard king.
