That was a standard practice during medieval times. The persians did the same, and so did hindus or people of any other region. Humans are by nature quite primitive.

I did a survey of various wars that have shaped history eg islamic invasion of India and some other stuff incl alexander's invasion of India. The pre-dominant factor that shapes the outcome are tactics and luck factor. Luck can cause an opponent to make a mistake and enable one to cash in on the situation.

Logistics and tactics along with psychological warfare have been used since time immemorial.

not sure I understand you. Islam just converted people -didn't selectively butcher people of any given characteristic -other than when they refused to convert. You can find all sorts of muslims in the present world -poets, singers, academics, bloood thirsty militants, prosbreastutes, belly dancers, shrewd politicians, depressed alcoholics etc..

there are forests and hills in India too. The greek hermits fled to the hills to escape forcible conversion -when greece fell to islamic armies. I know someone whose ancestors fled the desert-plain regions to the himalayas . Besides -Islam did destroy a lot of cultures, but was not always victorious. There were many kingdoms to which unconverted people fled to escape genocide.

You could say the same thing about the fertile crescent or about gangetic basin of India. Europe was actually never fertile enough to support as many humans as tropical countries -which is why you have low population density there.
