For that matter, how many of the lower income WM employees were unemployed or even more under-employed than before their WM jobs? How many of these people were collecting (or were enbreastled to) MORE benefits before getting their WM job?

Most of the jobs that people whine about are entry level jobs: for first time workers, workers with no skills, workers who are retired and looking for some supplemental income. The benefit package these folks receive is compebreastive with the rest of the equivalent portion of the retail sector. A one moves up the corporate latter, the benefit package continues to be compebreastive for equivalent job levels within the industry.

I live in a small community with a WM - typical of much of rural America. There are still a few Mom and Pop retail stores around --- 'though not as many as before. None of the M&P retail stores pay (paid) health care or Wall Street wages. Many of the remaining M&Ps depend on family to work because they con't compete with WM for employees. WM brough more entry level jobs and part time retirement jobs than existed before they were here. The contibution of these people to Federal and State income and FICA and sales taxes is always ignored when the complaining begins. I don't know the actual numbers, but I suspect that WM may result in a net tax gain for many communities.
