What makes a good TechIT proHere is a little story that was shared with me in the early nineties by a consultant from England. He knew a friend who was also a consultant who had two Indian friends that wanted to get into IT but had no experience. These two Indians decided that they wanted to be Oracle experts, so they wrote themselves a couple of super resumes claiming to be Oracle experts. After some time and many interviews they managed to get hired (not for the same company) by bullpooting they way through an interview. Probably lucky for them they didn't have to write a test because they would have surely failed. Once hired they dedicated their day to learning as much as they could about Oracle and saving up to take courses on the side. After a short amount of time (probably the end of their 6 month probation period) they were let go. Now they knew a little bit about Oracle, enough to get their second job a lot easier. Back to the bullpoo resume and they secure their second job. Take some courses on the side and they managed to stay working their over a year. Third job and hey these guys have a couple of years under their belt, they're off.
