I just meant that "firing american workers and sending work overseas" is NOT a cognixable offence -for which either the CEO or the company can be penalized. Rape & liquidate are cognizable offences which invite an arrest warrant within the US.

Some do it because they have lost jobs and are emotionally upset about it. That is understasndable -but the atbreastude "how dare you send 'american' jobs overseas" is probably something needs to be re-looked. Apart from jobs funded by the american taxpayer -there is no such thing as an 'american' job. When capital moves from country X to Y, it looks as if the jobs generated belong to country Y. But as long as the capital can move to country Z -saying so is incorrect and INCONSEQUENTIAL.

Some-many decisions to offshore are a result of shareholders' desires. If it costs more to offshore than to do it locally, the CEO won't be able to sell the idea of offshoring. If there is a problem-it lies with the fact that for-profit companies cannot deviate from their intent to turn the maximum possible profit. He may be pocketing a bonus, but even if he didn't -the end result would habve been a movement of jobs to save costs.

I mean, there is a global market for engg goods & services and FDI doesn't have to originate in the US. I just disagree with the notion that the tech sector belongs to americans or whites or anythng of that sort. The kind of atbreastude some people on usenet have about Indians stealing american jobs is not confined to a minority. IEEE USA has a charter that Indians should NOT be allowed to move up the value chain -and the guy saying this is the president of AT&T with a Ph.D below his belt. How can americans hold people in other countries answerable as to what jobs they take up to earn their living? If 1 billion people are not jealous of your prosperity, why can't you just leave them alone???
