Yes. But I'll put it back in for everyone's enlightenment, LOL! Here it is, sports fans:
Zogby poll: Americans fed up on illegal aliens Majority against Bush plan for workers... 105 On Sun, 15 May 2005 18:22:53 -0600, "Iconoclast" Actually..the transportation costs are minimal, as are the wages of the Chinese truckers who moved em. Less than a weeks wages for one... You conveniently leave out the truck drivers who take those lug nuts to a Chinese port where several hundred workers load it and other products onto container ships and the people who work on the container ship and the fuel that is used to take it clear across the Pacific Ocean and then the people working in Long Beach who unload the container and then the people open the container and seperate out the items and the truck drivers who take it to a railroad yard where it is loaded onto a train and then it has to be unloaded somewhere else and truck drivers take the lug nuts to a central warehouse where it is stocked. Then they are pulled and sent to a Checker Auto store or some other place. When all is added up, you have used far more than the 13 people you eliminated to get the same lug nuts to the consumer and used far more fossil fuels to get them there. The costs that were "saved" do not reflect the true costs of shipping the lug nuts half way around the world, IMO.
Lucky? ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nice and for the most part meaningless cliche! If you consider Haiti or the Dominican Republic the paradigms for the global economy, then we will continue to spiral downward to the lowest common denominator, economically speaking. It's ironic that globalists claim that illegal aliens have a human right to migrate for a better life in the West while people like you champion the benefits of moving manufacturing to places with no environmental regulations and plantation economies, so to speak. It's a sort of global feudalism which will only benefit billionairs. Working in the same cities and nations where they had always lived, I suppose. Their jobs were not outsourced or sent to China, for sure. That's a good start. It certainly isn't "the only and best thing 'we' can do." Who is "we?" You called it "feelgoodism." Looking at it from my perspective, if India had as good an infrastructure as the US -we could have... You bet I do. Blogs are here for good and they are often more honest and respected than the mainstream media, which has lost almost all credibility in many people's view. Certainly the government has shown that it will fabricate stories. Get real and realize that blogs are to the 21st century what the Guttenberg Press was to its time. If you think the New York Times, CBS or the Washington Post haven't lied and fabricated stories, you're living in La La Land.
