Actually..the transportation costs are minimal, as are the wages of the Chinese truckers who moved em. Less than a weeks wages for one of the 13 now unemployed machinists. Shipping from China is dirt cheap when stuff is loade on one of those huge container ships. Do you recall that during the California gold rush, it was cheaper to have your dirty laundry shipped to China, washed, mended then returned than to have it done locally? It also benefits those people drawing wages for their labors. And the stockholders whose investment profits went up significantly. This is not an illegal alien issue btw. But they were working at a different trade than buggy whip making. Technology marches on..and you have to learn new methods, new trades, or have a really good Golden Parachute to fall back on.

What else can we do besides close the borders? Its damned sure we cant round up 13 million illegals and ship em back home. The US economy would fail within 2 months and sink by the bow. Likely a civil war would break out also. Americans, Buckwheat.
