Slave labor? Few actually do you know. Does a working in Hangchow make $15.75 an hour? Of course not. They make about $20 a week. On the other hand...they only need $20 a week to live on decently.

Costs of living are dramaticly different from the US. When you can rent a villa, complete with cook and maid for $400 a month, across much of the turd world...it means that the dollar is strong, and things cost less elsewhere.

Which is also an issue as American products are in many cases too expensive for a good portion of the planet to purchase. A can of beans which is $.79USD in your supermarket, is $.05USD in another country. Both are locally produced in each respective country. What makes the consumer in our foriegn country buy the American can of beans? Nothing. Hence it will not sell.

Now in Europe for example..that can of beans may be competative with their own locally produced can at about the same price, so it becomes buyer prefernce. The big advantage of the current weak US dollar, is suddenly the US can of beans is Cheaper than the English can, and now the consumer will shopt on price and we start selling lots of beans.

In fact, the weak US dollar is the reason we are seeing a boom in US manufacturing at present as the Europeans are outsourcing their manufacturing to the US, as its now cheaper to have Widgets made in the US, rather than at home. Quite true.

A strong US dollar is good and bad. A weak one is also good and bad as it now costs us more to import things, such as raw materials. Priced metals lately? Ouch.

There are other alternatives. Please put in your thinking cap and squint your eyes really hard and lets hear a few more.
