the myth of American supremacy 4474
Well, considering you don't work for an MNC, and I don't work for an MNC, I think this is all an 'academic' exercise anyway; but as I stated in my original response, "investor demands to increase profits" (i.e., "market pressures", "compebreastion") are the answer to your question. It is fairly apparent that the only solutions these highly paid CEO's of large corporations could come up with to handle the compebreastion were: 1) perform illegal accounting transactions that appeared to bolster profits, and 2) hire cheap labor in a the Wild, Wild East - and in doing so, avoid taxation and stringent government regulation put in place to protect workers, consumers, children and the environment. As I also stated, the playing field is already beginning to level out; tech. workers in India are enjoying increased wages even as we speak. As more MNC's set up shop in India, and the tech. workers are given even more choices of where to work, the MNC's will have to increase pay and benefits to attract the most talented of the labor pool. Other companies will be forced to increase wages accordingly, to attract the most talented workers. All this is detailed at great length in "Wealth of Nations" by Adam Smith, circa 1776. India's salary growth threatens outsourcing 4475 I'm not a "basher of outsourcing" per se. I find it simply annoying that these arguments degenerate into "indiaBPOking"-style insult throwing sessions. Of course outsourcing works; it is a proven and tested business... Personally I believe that H1B restrictions should be abolished. Any Indian who wants to work in the U.S. on a Visa should be allowed to. H1B restrictions, by their very nature, make them more valuable. I would speculate that Indians who could come to the U.S. and work without all of the hbuttle of sponsorship or going through agencies would do so, and demand higher salaries than they were making in India. I would further speculate that salaries for Indians at home would shoot through the roof, just to keep them in-country. What would be your position on this?
