Perhaps that's a bit of an exageration and 10.7 million would be more like the myth of American supremacy 4479 BO L. That (as the article states) avg holds true for CEOs of the 50 largest about or less than $300.000 p.a No doubt about the ill-efects of capitalism. Im... What's the problem? Nothing if you're a die-hard capitalist. If you believe in pure capitalism, I can only hope to change your mind in pointing out that capitalism does not always do what is best for society; if I don't, any CEO pay and destruction of the middle clbutt will not mean anything. I don't believe that a society where you have a few billionares, little or no middle clbutt, and a lot of poor people is one that fosters stability. Just look at South America. If there is a finite number a resources in a sociey, there should be some attempt to fairly distribute them. I would not mind the high CEO salary so much if it weren't for the fact that middle-clbutt standard of living is falling and that middle clbutt jobs are being outsourced for the gain of the CEO. I know you've been to the U.S. and are aware of the high cost of living here - so you know that no one could afford a house on a Walmart salary (in the high real estate markets).
We have yet to see any compelling numbers that would argue this. And will future demand for American products be met by importing cheap goods from China, performing some small value added task and then exporting back or to a third nation? You need to get a birds-eye view showing the effects on jobs, standard of living, and tax revenue under each scenario. Also, this does not need to be across the board; we just need to protect our industries that are being damaged by free-trade. What I can say is that the promises that were made to support free-trade have not surfaced. We were promised that a technical degree would be a golden ticket and now look what we have. Never said that we should. We can and should control those in the U.S. who benefit from cheap labor abroad. If I go on vacation in Europe, buy some goods on which I find a good deal, and that purchase exceeds a certain amount, then I must pay a duty upon re-entering the U.S.
Since Google is used all over the world, it would be much more difficult to regulate them.
