I would say it differently: managers are -- or think they are -- little Jesus Christs who can walk on water AND officers in the military who can give orders and the order is fulfilled instantly, correctly, and without error by underlings (and never mind that the orders may be defective).

Well, maybe there is something to that. But, I see in our book stores all kinds of Debt Management books that make it seem like if someone reads the Debt Management book, then he will become a god. There is so much hype, buzzwords, buzzthinks, sound bites, thought bites, magic acronyms, and false propaganda...and yet these guys all think it will save them, deliver them, enhance them. We had one famous book two decades ago "In Search of Excellence" and everyone was in a stampede to buy it and read it. And, then, a few years later the truth came out: of all these wonderful perfect comapanies, one third went out of business, another third has their stock prices going down like a plant, and only the last third was doing any good.

So much for magic answers.
