A different look at Dell products and services

Folks,

Being the one who started the posting of "bad just got badder", I feel somewhat compelled to sort of summarize much of what was said in all of those 100+ posts and correct some my misgivings about Dell services.

First let me say that I have read all the posts. And the information in those posts were very helpful. In fact those posts motivated me to once again attempt to resolve my problem using the tech support services that was available to me as a home user. When I first contacted the Dell tech support (mainly with the India folks) back in December 2005 I did not get a clear resolution to my problem. The second time I contacted them which was yesterday I did get the precise help I needed and it appears the problem was resolved.

E1505 = I6400
The hardware is the same, but the base operating system and incentives are different between the E1505 and I6400. The E1505 comes with Windows XP Media Center standard, the I6400...

As it turned out the problem originated with Microsoft XP service pack 2 issue and there is now a fix for it. However at the time of my first call, the problem was being worked on. Therefore I am not sure that everyone in the Dell support group was aware of the solution. I found that out from a discussion forum at cnet.com with most of those posts being dated around December 2005, when I first contact the Dell support group. In my second attempt to work with the Dell support group just yesterday, the issue was resolved in a few minutes with only one call. That contact with with a fella in India. He was great!

What a different in the support service that I received between my December call and the call yesterday!

Dell computers and experimentation
Hello everyone, In another thread, a discussion took place when a poster asked for a link to a registry cleaner. I gave the person who asked for a link to a good registry cleaner...

Let there be no doubt that I personally think that Dell has great products and their service to the home user is consistently improving. In that respect, indeed, Dell probably has no equal when it comes to their products and service.
