Another Blow For the Dellsnots 1133Leythos If you'll look back, I said, "For example, $100,000 from my business, for tech support, would wipe me out. $100,000 from Dell, wouldn't even be a blip on their radar." The $100,000 was an example. The point I was *trying* to make was that large companies can afford to try unconventional support methods, such as outsourcing. Smaller business, such as my own (Yes, that's personal), don't have the financial resources to take such chances. Can you *honestly* say that Dell (I'm using them as an example, as this is a Dell newgroup, but it applies to any multi billion dollar company.) couldn't afford a $100,000 (EXAMPLE!) loss easier than me? That's one way that large companies *become* large companies... By taking financial risks. In general, I'm a firm believer in "It takes money to make money." I completely understand the concept of outsourcing. There are certainly times where it works, albeit at the expense of U.S. jobs. Clearly, it hasn't worked all that well for Dell, as they're bringing a bunch of CS-TS back to the U.S. I'm fortunate, in that I *do* understand the superficial problems with non-English speaking Support, and can afford a higher level of support, accordingly. A large number of buyers, however, want to spend as little as possible, on a system, and, ironically, these are the people that need the *best* support. It seems to me that, if a company like Dell (or *any* company), at this point in time, were to provide support, better than anyone else's, their name would always be at the top of the "best" lists. For whatever reason, no one seems interested in doing this. Why? 'Cause it'll cost them money. And, while there's a big difference in "losing" money and "not making as much" money, a lot of these companies *appear* to confuse the two. Another Blow For the Dellsnots 1134 says... Don't take this wrong, but you need a real Usenet client so you can Quote properly and snip too. As for the belief above, I don't... Enough of my ranting. I think it's time to move on. Another Blow For the Dellsnots 1135 says... Well, I sort of agree. It is about Dell, it is about ANY company that decided to cut costs... Regards, Notan
