Anyone using Trend Micro's PCCillin 2006Dim 2400 OS CD Depends.... Dell have been changing the way they handle OS CD's. It used to be that you always got a Windows CD with a new system. Then some time ago they changed their...
I'm using the 2005 version of it on four computers (4 licenses, direct from Trend Micro's website...cheapest way I found to get it). I replaced Norton AV with in January-February of this year when Norton let a rather obnoxious virus through. I haven't had any problems with it on any of the four PC's (1xWin98FE, 1xWin98SE, 1xWinME, 1xWinXP Home). On one computer, I have it running along with Zone Alarm, on all the others it is the only firewall software and AV software though I run multiple spyware detection programs on all computers (Spybot S&D and AdAware as well as Trend's PC-Cillin...each of them has caught spyware the others have missed). In the past, I've used Norton AV, McAfee, and AVG for AV software...I prefer PC-Cillin over previous versions of competing software that I've used and find it a lot less intrusive than Norton and it doesn't hog resources as much either. YMMV, but I like it and am considering whether to upgrade to the 2006 version or just renew my subscription when that time rolls around again. BTW, when I bought the licenses online, Trend had a little (6-8 question) virus quiz that, if you answered everything right, you could buy from them at about 50% off in-store pricing (if you got anything wrong, the deal wasn't as good, but you could clear your cache and try again).
