It is my policy to create images complete parbreastions very frequently, largely because I quite often give my system electronic indigestion by tweaking it ignorantly. Rstorations are a necessity!

I used PowerQuest Drive Image 5.0 for years. It seemed to be a bit wobbly sometimes when dropping into DOS from XP so I always used the Rescue floppies which booted directly into DOS. This worked flawlessly, restoring complete parbreastions or individual files, but it seemed to take an eternity to get into the actual program from the floppies.

By chance I came upon DOSimage from Terabyte and bought it. This is a single bootable floppy program which images and restores parbreastions, even to and from external USB HDs. Not bad for one floppy! The graphics are very DOS and for restoration it demands a parbreastion of the same size or larger than that imaged. I can live with that. (If you buy it take my tip and leave you external USB drive(s) switched off until the firsy menu appears).

I've been doing daily image and file backups with Acronis True Image 9.0 for a few months. Backups worked flawlessly. Yesterday I thought I should restore something as a fire drill, so I...

My son then enthused about Acronis 9, I had tried Acronis 8 and did not like it, maybe because I had other background problems while testing it. Anyway, I have now been using Acronis 9 for months and I do like it. Mind you I invariably image and restore complete parbreastions so I have had the opportunity to experience the individual file restore problems mentioned in this thread.
