CORE dUO VS. PENTIUM m
I think the next big thing would be the launch of Turion X2, AMD's first dual-core mobile CPU (which should support 64-bit). Reports were that it would be launched in early May, then somewhere I came across one or more reports saying that will be delayed until June. What matters is when someone will actually start shipping notebooks equipped with it, and for that I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Regarding 64-bit Core Duo's, I don't believe there will be any 64-bit versions of Yonah Core Duo or Yonah Core Solo. The next big Intel mobile launch would be Merom, which is scheduled for Q4 last I heard. Again, I guess we'll have to wait and see. Merom, which I guess would be marketed under the same Core Duo and Core Solo names but with different part numbers (?), not only brings 64-bit support to Intel mobile processors but also includes a number of other architectural improvements over Yonah which will increase performance. Rumor has it that Merom will outperform Yonah by 20% on some benchmarks at the same TDP, but only time and thorough independent benchmarking will tell. Strange Fault Hi, Yesterday I turned on the P.C; and noticed that my internet connection had died, thinking the network had gone down...
