Cleaning inside of computer 101Nonslugish AV programs 102 link for the reason why: I respectfully disagree. Look at Microsoft. They've been successfully milking the public for the privilege of effectively 'beta testing' their bug-ridden... Rob, This is an interesting thread. I can see where a too powerful vacuum could suck up a jumper. I agree that being gentle while cleaning the PC is a good idea ( I wouldn't want to use an upright vacuum, the roller brush wouldn't be to gentle :-) )But on the other hand I work as an electrician for an auto company. For example we have what is called a DSC, this is a power amplifier that powers a servo motor. These are out on the shop floor and accumulate a lot of grease and grime. In some cases when you open them up the oil pours out. How they manage not to short out is amazing. When we do have to repair them we clean them up with a pressure washer, first spraying them down with soap. Then we stick them in the oven at 300 degrees and dry them out for a couple of hours. They don't have processor chips, but they have cooling fans and transistors, resisters and capacitors on multiple boards. First time I did it my reaction was, "Are you sure about this?" Hey it works. But don't worry, I'm not pressure washing my PC any time soon. Paul Server 103 says... You should be able to get a lot more than that. A big chunk of my Internet presence is based on a Compaq ProLiant 6500 that dates back... Robert R Kircher, Jr.
