Dell Inspiron 2200 + problematic keyboard + sticky keysLaptops, wait for Intel Centrino Core Duo If you are implying that the phrase "dual core" is widely misused and misunderstood, I agree. One one side you have people with a very narrow opinion, which is by definition "what AMD... Hi Mel, I don't have those symptoms, but i'd check the ribbon anyway, its part of the troubleshooting from Dell anyway. - Thats the how to remove the keyboard. The keyboard is really easy to remove. Flip the lid of the monitor to 180 degrees and get something flat and preferably plastic, maybe slightly strong, but a regular knife would do the same job. Unplug the AC and remove the battery (under the laptop on the left there is asort of switch thing, click that forward whilst sliding the battery - on the right hand side - to release it) then hold the power button on the laptop for a few seconds just to make sure all the power has left the laptop. just above the usb plugs on either side of the laptop you will see the sort of hooped shaped plastic that is part of the casing by the on-off switch. Starting on the left hand shide put a knife under the the plastic, you'll see there is a small gap already. It should easily unclip. and carefully remove the plastic. the keys will just slide out, but the ribbon connecting the keyboard to the laptop is only about 10- 12 ". Check to see if the cable is loose, it will come off its just a flip thing to hold the cable in place. Upgrading CPU in Dell 8200 Hi, I've got a Dell 8200, 1.7ghz cpu, 512MB RDRAM (all four slots populated).128MB Gforce videoo adapter. I'm thinking I'd like to... I removed the ribbon from the motherboard last night, it appears to have fixed the keyboard but i won't hold my breath. I'm still waiting to hear from dell. Hope you get your laptop fixed! Aly
