Dell Rebate Hbuttle to rest 1707Dell Rebate Hbuttle to rest 1708 The main reason that companies use mail-in rebates is the probability that they won't have to pay the money. They make it very tedious and... when you don't get paid your rebate it is certainly easier to buttume that you are the victim of a scam than to do something about it. but it doesn't explain how other people manage to get paid from the same vendor. nor does it explain why people keep buying items with rebates offered. clearly the incentive for manufacturers to offer rebates comes from the fact that a large percentage of buyers never submit a claim and that means they are able to offer incredibly low after rebate prices that attract buyers attention. this approach doesn't cost them any more then if they simply lowered the price on every item to some price that is not as low as the after rebate price. meaning that because many rebates are not claimed the seller can offer a lower after rebate price than they could with a straight forward point of purchase or instant rebate price. the consumers that fail to submit their rebates are in effect subsidizing those who do. so thank you to all the wealthily or absent minded people that don't send in their rebates and the inept people that don't fill them out correctly or don't follow up on unpaid rebates... you all are helping me purchase stuff for way less than i could have without you. i wonder if these are the same people that choose not to vote (yet complain about the results).
