Dell Support How sad it is

Dell support and customer service can at times be nightmares. Sometimes doing something like hanging up quickly if you get someone who you don't think can help you and calling until you get someone you can work with helps. Sometimes it helps to lie about what you have or haven't done -- "reinstall Windows from Scratch" -- oh, I already did that and it didn't solve the problem.
I had a Dell 924 printer that would occasionally get hung up in some kind of mechanical clicking loop, click, click, ... click click. They wouldn't replace it unless it would happen on the phone, or at least that support person didn't.
So, it was just a matter of calling about 5 times over the next day or two at different intervals even if it wasn't clicking then. It would build up an electronic trail of notes that would lead them to replace it.

I don't like doing that kind of thing, but if I know something isn't working and I know the most effective way to get results, then why not do it? I am the kind of person who struggles whether it's OK to tell a white lie so I never feel quite right about it, but sometimes just doing what it takes to get results is the path I take.
Having said all that, I had a nightmare experience about a month ago that humbled me enough that I realize I'm not as good at navigating (manipulating) the system for positive results as I thought. I was probably on the phone for 10 hours and got bumped around about 30 times...
