As far as being "American", I used to like what that represented a whole lot more that what it represents today. I am one of the millions of Americans who cannot believe the direction this country is headed in and the HUGE mistake we made going into Iraq. Afganistan, sure -- that was brilliant, but we dropped the ball in not pursuing Bin Laden further. But there were no weapons of mbutt destruction. Colin Powell said that was one of the lowest points of his entire career when he stood in front of the UN basically with inaccurate information. I think that they expected to find weapons of mbutt destruction, and were willing to lie up front because they thought it would end up being true. George Bush, in his state of the union address, gloated about how he was going to save $14 billion dollars by cutting some programs over the next few years. The Iraq war is now over $300 billion, and nothing, absolutely nothing, compares to it. The U.S. is over $9 trillion in debt, trying to compete with emerging superpowers. Oh -- he cut food stamps by $300 million leaving many who can't afford food to go without. And he cut section 8 housing for the hundreds of thousands of people on the welfare part of disability who get between $600 and $800 a month, simply because of factors that leave them disabled. Now there are homeless people on the streets (or 6 feet under if they choose that as the lesser of two evils) because of it. Dell ink Cartridges 1679 Jupiter Jones You wish to make it seem as if people who live in the United States have no right to call themselves Americans. As if to... I hardly ever encounter anyone like Alt. While there are a lot of people like that, they are a very rare breed. I gave away my American flag, because it doesn't represent what it did when I bought it. If the U.S. values change and we are moving in the right direction again, then I will gladly have pride in this country. Journey
