Dell's Optical Mouse Eats up Batteries 615
RRRNews The problem with rechargable AA batteries is that they are only 1.2 volts instead of the 1.5 volts for a normal aa battery. This is quite a diiference as each mouse requires...

Vince, If your optical mouse does not have the ability to turn itself off, you have basically two (2) choices. 1. When you through using the mouse, unload the batteries. 2. Buy some rechargeable (set of 4) batteries and a charger, my wife's mouse uses them for about a week, before recharging. Keep a set fully charge.

I received my Dimensino XPS Gen 4 on 21 Jan 05, which is energized almost 24-7. About one month ago, I replaced the original batteries that came with the mouse with a pair of Duracell AA's that were date marked MAR 2010.. Those now measure 1.13 Vdc under no load condition. This morning I had to install another set of fresh batteries.

Are these Optical mice known to be energy hungry? This one is a Dell P-N 0T0179, S-N LZC43860680.

Regards, de ~ Vince ~
