Dim 5100 5150 3100 queries sorry, fairly longThere are a couple of base units on offer from a third party at the Dimension 3100 P4 3.0Ghz, 512MB RAM, 160GB HD £299 Dimension 5100 P4 3.0GHz, 512MB RAM, 160GB HD £229 ...and a very badly described (conflicting info)... Dimension 5150 (5100?), P4 3.4GHz, 1GB RAM, 200GB Hard drive £349 Undervolting My D610 1952 On Tue, 23 May 2006 23:12:57 GMT, Nicholas Andrade Hmm, I've heard a lot about overclocking, but this is the first I've heard about undervolting. I am certainly one to favor... At first glance, the 3100 seems a little overpriced, and afaik it hasn`t got an AGP-PCIe slot - can anyone tell me if the 5100 5150 has ? Do both boards use the Intel Extreme II onboard chipset in their standard configs ? Is anyone able to give me the Super Pi benchmark on a non-overclocked 3Ghz 3.4Ghz P4 (i`ve tried googling but the results are tainted heavily by overclockers) - i`m wondering how it stacks up against my 3 yr old low-end-when-I-bought-it Athlon XP2000 :-} My current generic system has what appears to be a persistant hardware fault - I think a couple of capacitors are shot (bulging) and i`m on the lookout for a replacement - i`m trying to work out if the badly described box is actually worth it... Undervolting My D610 1953 On Wed, 24 May 2006 07:24:14 GMT, Nicholas Andrade Thank you for the sound advice. The key words are: "if you don't know what you're doing you'll likely be so... A similar spec on Dell Outlet came in at around £379 when I checked earlier - but that definitely had an X300 128Mb card in it - the description on this box is a little more cryptic - "Graphics card with at least 256MB V RAM" - without specifying what card (if any) or whether that was shared RAM. TIA :-} (and sorry for the ramble !) Docs for both available here; The 5100-5150 can have either inbuilt or cards for both audio and video. Both have PCI Express 16x slots.
