Thanks for the great review! You made a wise battery choice. Looking forward to your batter life. I would still call Dell and get the CDs -- can come in handy when selling it on Ebay down the road or having a dual Linux boot. You can change key allocations with a utility called Keytweak. If you Google it and can't find it I'll post a link for you. I wouldn't get XP Pro unless you need those features, but it sounds like you already have it? I think you'll get used to scrolling with the touchpad. I had a Toshiba for a few weeks and hated it. They Synaptics touchpad is great and you can set cruising on it too.

There's a pre-installed thing on the hard drive that supposedly has the same function (OS restore) so I imagine...

I saw one review of the laptop on the net, and CNET seems to have dropped the ball and hasn't had one yet, so thanks for posting your impressions.

I'd love to know how long you can get using normal functions -- word processing, some web browsing, etc. with the extended battery.

Does the extended battery extend through the back? I wonder if its the same one the 630m uses or if it's different.
