EIDE connector port problem 1175
It works! It works! It works! EIDE connector port problem 1177 That's exactly what I did. I don't think the CD drive is defective. When connected on EIDE2 both CD drives work fine. When on EIDE1 the 1st drive on the ribbon isn't recognized. Though... make tons of cash EASY What is $5 and 15 minutes when it can make you earn $100,000 ? Not much, if you ask me... You've probably seen a lot of those kind of messages... While in the 'BIOS Setup' I pressed F9 which loaded the default configuration. Somehow that did it. Upon booting the hard drive on the second position of EIDE1 was recognized just fine. EIDE connector port problem 1176 Info for group: This explains cableselect and all its parts. Unlikely to help this situation. I... I looked at the pins and the jumpers. They seemed OK. I tried jumpering the drives as Master-Slave and not Cable Select. Didn't work. I re-checked the IDE setting to make sure it was set to 'Both'. It was. I even changed the IDE setting to 'Primary'. Same thing. Changed back to 'Both'. So now, I enter the 'BIOS Setup' and start trying "stupid" things. I toggled the 'QuickBoot' setting. I toggled the 'Quiet Boot' (Booting Diagnostics). I changed the parallel port to EPP-ECP-etc. I knew none of that would change things but I was just trying. The point here is that after every change I had to press F10 to save the changes and then Enter to confirm before exiting and rebooting. Then one time by mistake instead of F10 I pressed F9 which loads the default configuration. Up came the confirmation box. Then I saw something like 'Load default config?' and realized I hadn't press F10. At this point I said 'What the heck" and pressed Enter. Upon booting the drive that wasn't recognized before, got recognized just fine. Now, every peripheral is recognized but I don't know what setting change did it! Any ideas? Thanks to everybody for their help. I appreciated it a lot. Thanks for the help gg. Thanks Jim
