Experienced users of Symantec PC Anywhere....need some help 1521
Stew, i got pcanywhere to work, it's really quite simple. contact me or call me and i can get into more details with you. -Jay Experienced users of Symantec PC Anywhere....need some help 1522 pcanywhere over the web is not at all secure unless you use a vpn connection. and even then is... no i use mine with dynamic ip's all the time- you just need to know the ip address beforehand. there are dynamic to static ip providers that can solve this problem for you, like dyndns.org absolutely not needed. i dont use VPN. Experienced users of Symantec PC Anywhere....need some help 1523 Chris - I appreciate your input, even if you didn't notice it was me asking. There are plenty of areas where I've got things to learn, and I have no problem asking the group, because... YES- you would need to forward the 2 pcanywhere ports over to the internal ip of the workstation. if you want to come into all 3 computers, you need to buttign 3 different ranges of ips for these computers. pcanywhere used to have a nice doc on their website that showed how to do this years ago. an easier install that i've also done was to put it on the server internally, and then from there, hope to any other computer in the entire network, without opening each computer up to the outside. this is easier. as others have said, i stopped using pcanywhere years ago, because it is slow and has gotten bloaty. i use radmin myself, but the others listed are good also. but pcanywhere should work fine.
