I know... my first Mac had 128k (yes, k) RAM, and a 400k floppy (as in really cool floppies as we know them now, which aren't nearly as cool these days) that had the operating system and application on it which took 360k leaving only 40k for files.

They managed to get cut copy paste, the scrapbook, mouse, and GUI all on that (I bet a lot of the GUI was well designed and in ROM).

I kept buying as the computers got more "powerful" -- 512k Mac, and I remember how amazing it was to have a 20M hard drive and 2.5M of RAM.

I wonder if I can outdo you regarding early computers. I had a Commodore VIC...

I think the Amiga used the same chip as the Mac but had two of them, one of which controlled graphics. I think the Mac had a window of opportunity in which it should have been comparing Apples to oranges, i.e. IBM PCs (no pun intended) side by side showing the advantages rather than their highly acclaimed but I believe very ineffective marketing including the 1984 commercial (which today might seem quaint).

Also, Apple overcharged and went for short-term profits rather than market share. Steve Jobs is getting a second chance at marketing and this time he's doing a much better job (ack, no pun intended lol).
