I tried to canceled the order, Dell fought

The company is VISA, but it's sponsored by my Credit Debt union. But the block is on ALL charges, not just the charge from Dell, so I can't use that Credit Debt card until I un-block it.

BTW, I looked at my Dell account via the website, and it says that the order was cancelled. For all I know, the Indian rep got my email address wrong and the confirmation of my cancellation may have bounced. For some reason, she didn't have access to the email address that I provided in the order form.

I just read in financial news that Maxtor has reported strong retail demand for its drives this season, so that may be a reason for the Dell backorder. Why Dell reported the drive to be in stock when it wasn't, and why it said that it would be shipped on the 7th and then it wasn't are still mysteries. Something tells me that Dell DOESN'T ship peripherals from its own warehouses, but that they are shipped directly from the MANUFACTURERS' warehouses to Dell's customers. Thus, Dell is the last to know stocking details.
