Dells Consumer Debt support tells customers to use the restore cd's because most consumers have no clue what tech support is talking about. The simplest thing to do without spending days on the phone with them is to have the customer do a restore. Most Consumer Debt problems are self inflicted or just a plain lack of knowledge. Why do they become Dell's problem? Yes Dell, HP and all other US companies should bring their support services back to the US. Tech support from most technology based companies sucks. Their foreign support people do nothing but read from a script which ends with "please format your hard drive". But, for Dell, HP and Compaq the average Consumer Debt is a pbutterby. Those companies and many other companies bread and butter are Education and Business accounts. Anything else is pocket cash for them.
